Marco Polo Tours - Malaysia Getaway TOUR ITINERARY: Day 1 Hometown - Hong Kong You begin your adventure. Depart Vancouver or from your hometown to Hong Kong via Cathay Pacific Airways. En-route you will cross the International Dateline. Day 2 Hong Kong - Kuala Lumpur Arrive in Hong Kong International Airport, you will take an immediate connection to Kuala Lumpur. Upon arrival, transfer to hotel. Hotel: Dorsett Regency Hotel or similar Day 3 Kuala Lumpur This morning, you will be picked up from hotel for Kuala Lumpur city tour. On this tour, see the contrast between the Indo-Moorish architecture and the ultra modern edifices. Photo stop at the Royal Palace. Visit the National Museum, journey through the beautiful Lake Gardens and pause for a moment at the National Monument. Drive pass the elegant Jamek Mosque, the bustling Chinatown and the Independence Square. Photo stop at Petronas Twin-Tower - the symbol of modern Malaysia and the tallest twin-tower in the world! Final stop is to witness pewter craftsmanship at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre. In the afternoon, you will explore more about Malaysia, a multi-racial and religious country. This tour covers two unique and attractive places of worship. First is spectacular Thean Hou Chinese Temple. This striking, 6-tier temple is dedicated to the Goddess Tian Hou (the Heavenly Mother) and features elements of Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Next is the Batu Caves - a massive limestone outcrop, its interiors are home to a Hindu shrine lined with different deities. The shrine itself is located deep inside the high caverns which take 272 steps to reach. On the way back, visit a local Batik centre to see how the Batik being designed and made. The tour ends with a demonstration of fine jewellery-making by OE Design, near KLCC. (B/L)Day 4 Kuala Lumpur - Malacca - Kuala Lumpur Today, you will take a full-day excursion to Malacca. Depart from Kuala Lumper, take a relaxing, scenic 2-hour drive south of Kuala Lumpur takes you to Malacca, the oldest trading port in Malaysia which has undergone Portuguese, Dutch and English rule. Visit Stadhuys – the Dutch Square and from there take a walk up St. Paul’s Hill for a panoramic view of the Malacca Straits and the old town of Bandar Hilir. At the top are the famous Portuguese Fort de Santiago and the ruins of St. Paul’s Church, lined by 17th Century Dutch tombstones. Stop for a typical ‘Nonya’ lunch before taking a stroll through the Antiques Row at Jonker Street. The visit to Malacca is completed with a stop at Cheng Hoon Teng, the oldest Chinese Temple in Malaysia (B/L)Day 5 Kuala Lumpur - Penang Transfer to airport and depart for Penang. Day 6 Penang Today you explore Penang - the Pearl of the Orient and the oldest British settlement in Malaysia. The tour covers the highlights of Penang Island within one day. It begin by going round the island with visits to the Batik Factory, typical Malay villages and the unique Snake Temple. View Asia’s longest bridge and lunch enroute at a local restaurant. Afternoon, tour the 720-metre high Penang Hill and enjoy the funicular railway ride, the cool, refreshing climate and the fanastic view at the summit. Drive through Colonial Georgetown before returning to the hotel. (B/L)Day 7 Penang After breakfast, you will take a full-day tour which takes you to visit the Tropical Agro Farm in Teluk Bahang and take a farm tour of some 140 species of local and regional tropical fruits. Later visit Penang’s only arboretum and learn of the origin and by-products of various trees. Adjourn to Penang Butterfly Farm, a sanctuary for over 120 species of rare and exotic butterflies. The farm is complete with a hatchery and offers regular "insect and reptile" shows to visitor. Next, is the Tropical Spice Garden planted with some 500 living specimens of plants and spices of the tropics. Lunch is at Garden’s Coffee Terrance.
